Finance & Loan Calculators
EMI, SIP, FD, tax, GST, salary and investment calculators that show every rupee of interest and return.
Picking the right finance calculator
Most money questions sound complicated but come down to one of four shapes: what will this loan cost me, what will this saving grow into, how much of my pay do I actually keep, and is this price a good deal. Each shape has its own tool, and using the wrong one is the fastest way to get a number you can't trust.
If you are borrowing
Start with the EMI calculator when you know the amount, the rate and the tenure and just want the monthly figure. If you are comparing offers on a specific purchase, the dedicated home loan EMI calculator and its siblings for car and personal loans ask for the same three inputs but frame the output around that loan's usual tenures, which makes the comparison easier to read. The loan calculator is the general-purpose one, and the mortgage calculator suits property loans quoted with a down payment.
Every one of these assumes a reducing balance loan. That means interest each month is charged only on what you still owe, not on the amount you originally borrowed. Your EMI stays the same, but its split shifts: early EMIs are mostly interest, later ones are mostly principal. This is why paying a lump sum in year two saves far more than the same lump sum in year twelve, and why the total interest figure often shocks people more than the monthly one.
If you are investing or saving
For a monthly mutual fund habit, use the SIP calculator, or the step-up SIP calculator if you plan to raise the instalment each year as your income grows. A one-time investment belongs in the lumpsum calculator, and a regular withdrawal from an existing corpus in the SWP calculator. For fixed-return products the numbers come from the scheme's own rules, so the PPF calculator, FD calculator, RD calculator and the Sukanya Samriddhi tool are separate rather than one generic one.
The compound interest calculator and simple interest calculator are the plain versions behind all of the above. Worth knowing the difference: simple interest is earned only on your original amount, compound interest is earned on interest too. Over a year the gap is small. Over twenty years it is most of your result.
Mistakes that quietly change the answer
- Entering an annual rate where a monthly one is expected, or the reverse. A twelve-times error is easy to miss when the output still looks plausible.
- Assuming a SIP return is guaranteed. The percentage you type is an assumption about the future, not a promise, and markets do not deliver it evenly year by year.
- Forgetting processing fees, insurance bundled into a loan, and prepayment charges. None of them appear in an EMI formula.
- Comparing a pre-tax return with a post-tax one. FD interest and debt fund gains are taxed differently from equity.
Pay, tax and deductions
Your offer letter and your bank credit rarely match. The salary calculator breaks CTC into take-home, the income tax calculator estimates the liability, and the HRA calculator and the EPF, NPS and gratuity tools handle the individual components. For business pricing, the GST calculator separates tax from base price and the profit margin calculator checks whether the margin survives it.
Everything here is an estimate
These tools use the standard published formulas and round the way banks usually round, but your lender, employer or tax office works from your actual documents, your exact disbursal date and rules that change. Treat our output as a planning figure to argue with, and the sanction letter or payslip as the final word.
